Amanda Diva Joins Legendary MC Q-Tip Onstage Print E-mail

Following the enthusiastic response to her feature on Q-Tip's critically acclaimed new album, The Renaissance, hip-hop chanteuse Amanda Diva will join the legendary MC onstage for the final leg of the 2K Sports Bounce Tour 2008. Headliner Q-Tip has invited the rising star to join the tour's bill--which also features The Cool Kids and Pacific Division--and perform their funk-soul duet "ManWomanBoogie" (listen here), a potential forthcoming single from The Renaissance. 

 

Amanda Diva and Q-Tip just wrapped shooting the music video for "ManWomanBoogie" (directed by Rik Cordero), their second collaboration in as many years. The artists first solidified their chemistry on "40 Emcees," a highlight from Diva's 2007 release, Life Experience.

Set It Off: The F.E.M Edition Print E-mail

On November 19th, Shadyville DJ's, Atomic Storm Entertainment in association with Uneek Entertainment and iWop Productions released "Set it Off – The F.E.M. Edition" mixtape by FEM (Females Earning Money), hosted and arranged by DJ Doo Wop and Featuring Shadyville DJ's.

 

The long awaited release is the first by the all female collective since Babs, Lady Luck and Rage announced they were joining forces in July 2008.  "Set it Off – The F.E.M. Edition" features other female heavyweights including Rah Digga, Bahamadia, Hedonis da Amazon and VH1's Miss Rap Supreme, Rece Steele.  The mixtape also has a guest appearance by Bronx super-group Bang Bang Boogie whose own mixtape, "The X-Files – No Mercy for the Weak" dropped last week.

Labelle Announce National 'Back To Now' Tour This Winter 2008 Print E-mail

Labelle have just announced their first national tour since 1977 kicking off Dec 19th at the Apollo Theater in NYC. The long awaited reunion of Sarah Dash, Nona Hendryx and Patti LaBelle as Labelle produced one of the most anticipated albums of the year 'Back to Now' (Verve).

 

Labelle has been called "a phenomenon whose music helped change the very idea of what pop and the artists who made it - especially women singers previously confined to 'girl groups' - could be." (Los Angeles Times, 10.12.08).
